EYFS at Tower College
We are delighted to welcome you to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Tower College. Our program is meticulously crafted to provide a nurturing and enriching environment tailored to your child’s early education. At Tower College, we believe in the holistic development of each child, ensuring they are well-prepared for their future learning journey and equipped with the confidence, creativity, and curiosity to thrive in all aspects of life.
Holistic Approach to Early Education
Our EYFS curriculum is designed to address all areas of development – cognitive, emotional, social, and physical. By fostering a supportive and stimulating environment, we help children develop essential skills that form the foundation for lifelong learning. From engaging in hands-on activities that spark creativity and critical thinking to participating in group projects that teach cooperation and teamwork, every aspect of our program aims to nurture the whole child.
The EYFS curriculum is based on seven key areas of learning and development:
- Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: Self-care, self-regulation, building relationships.
- Communication and Language: Listening, attention, understanding, speaking.
- Physical Development: Gross motor skills, fine motor skills.
- Literacy: Comprehension, word reading, writing.
- Mathematics: Numbers, numerical patterns.
- Understanding the World: People, culture, communities, the natural world, past and present.
- Expressive Arts and Design: Creating with materials, being imaginative and expressive.
The Early Years curriculum is flexible, allowing teachers to adapt to the interests of individual pupils. This encourages pupils to be active participants in their learning experiences. A typical timetable includes structured lessons in English, Maths, Phonics, and Topic, preparing pupils for the more formal education of Lower School. Pupils also have regular opportunities to explore continuous provision areas and receive specialist instruction in Spanish, Music, and PE.
Play-based learning is crucial in Early Years education, providing children with opportunities to explore skills and concepts autonomously. Our learning environments are designed to support this approach with structured areas such as sand and water, construction, reading, maths, writing, role-play, arts and crafts, and fine motor skills. Alongside child-initiated play, enhanced provision activities include topic-related challenges and teacher-led learning tasks.

Stimulating Environment
At Tower College, we understand the importance of a rich learning environment. Our classrooms are equipped with a variety of resources and materials that cater to different learning styles and interests. Children are encouraged to explore, discover, and learn through play, which is essential for their cognitive and social development. Our outdoor classroom offers additional opportunities for children to connect with nature, engage in physical activities, and develop their motor skills.
