Summer Newsletter 2022 – Lower School

It has been a jam-packed and productive summer term. As always, the staff went to extraordinary lengths to make the final two weeks something to remember. We will never forget Mr Southward’s new style of Sports Day or the delighted faces of the children receiving their awards on Graduation Day.

Another highlight of the term was the children’s meeting with police officers, scientists, and computer experts when they participated in our Careers Day. It was great fun seeing the children dress up in the clothes of the careers they would like to follow. Year 2 looked further at how children were forced to work in Victorian times. They now really appreciate the Children’s Act!

Whilst there haven’t been many sunny days this term, this hasn’t stopped the pupils from enjoying some excellent outdoor learning experiences and messy play. Enrichment sessions have again proved popular, with the children participating in LEGO design and construction, orienteering, and nature craft activities. Mrs Miles’s class raised caterpillars and watched them turn into butterflies before releasing them on the school lawn. The children also celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a scrumptious picnic followed by party games.

We hope you have a safe and relaxing summer break and look forward to seeing you in September, ready for the year ahead!
